Policy Gaps and Solutions to Ghana's National Health Insurance Scheme

Etymologically, the economic index of Ghana has seen a significant decline in the 19th century which necessitates several economic policies as a panacea to recover the economy. The solution to the economic crisis was seen as an IMF rescue mission, which invariably gave a size-fit solution irrespective of the socio-cultural dynamics in a country’s economy. Most of the policies were social intervention policies which have proven to aid access to growth. Accordingly, the National Health Insurance scheme has been introduced to help facilitate access to health care by all. However, the management of the various policies toward ensuring accountability, transparency, and sustainability has some defiance during implementation and operationalisation. Hence, it is vital to take adequate steps in ensuring the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Scheme.
