Petition to the Inspector General of Police

The Inspector-General of Police Ghana Police Service National Headquarters, Accra.

Dear Sir,

PETITION TO INVESTIGATE AN ALLEGED FRAUD/FORGERY AT GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE HEADQUARTERS

We wish to bring to the attention of your outfit concerning a fraudulent act that has taken place within the Ghana Education Service (GES). It has come to the notice of Institute of Liberty And Policy Innovation (ILAPI-Ghana), a civil society organization, that the former public relations officer of the (GES), Rev. Jonathan Bettey forged his promotion letter to the current rank of a deputy director within the service. The Acting Deputy Director of the GES, Mr. Anthony Boateng made the allegation on a radio discussion on Kasapa FM on the 5th of January, 2018. Mr. Boateng said this criminal conduct of Rev. Jonathan Bettey necessitated his transfer from the headquarters of the GES to the Central Regional office of the Service. We are of the view that staff transfer should not be a tool for punishing a person who has committed a criminal offense.

The Ghana Education Service is a public institution tasked with the responsibility of training future generations to become responsible citizens, and it is very unfortunate for activities of forgery to be happening among its top officials. As a public institute, we think there has been collusion among some GES members regarding the promotion of the former PRO and needs to be investigated to enhance equity, justice and instill confidence in the system.  By virtue of these, we are persuading your office to institute an investigation into the matter, and bring all those involved to justice.

We pledge our unflinching support to the police outfit in bringing finality to this matter. (Please find attached a transcript of what transpired on the said radio station as captured by its online portal, http://kasapafmonline.com/2018/01/05/bombshell-former-ges-pro-rev-bettey-forges-promotion-letter/)   We would be grateful if our petition is considered.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Bismark Kwofie.
